Filtrations, factorizations and explicit formulae for harmonic maps (Q664330): Difference between revisions

Filtrations of the Grassmannian model are used to produce explicit algebraic formulas for harmonic maps of finite uniton number for a general class of factorizations; these provide -- on the way -- useful relations between uniton factorizations and filtrations. It is described how to apply the developed methods to find harmonic maps of finite uniton number from a surface to each of the classical compact Lie groups and their inner symmetric spaces: to \(SO(n)\), \(Sp(m)\); to \(SO(2m)/U(m)\), \(Sp(m)/U(m)\), and real, complex and quaternionic Grassmannians. The obtained formulas for harmonic maps provide also explicit formulas for the Iwasawa decomposition.
