The main object of the paper under review is a smooth geometrically rationally connected variety \(X\) defined over a field \(F=k(C)\), where \(k\) is an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero and \(C\) is a curve over \(k\). A theorem of \textit{T.~Graber, J.~Harris} and \textit{J.~Starr} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 16, 57--67 (2003; Zbl 1092.14063)] establishes the existence of an \(F\)-rational point on \(X\). The main result of the paper under review (Theorem 3) says that \(X\) satisfies the weak approximation property for places of good reduction. The proof is based on the deformation theory developed by J.~Kollar et al., where the notion of comb plays a crucial role. The authors also discuss some conjectural generalizations of their result (to places of bad reduction and to the case of positive characteristic).
