One deals with sojourn times in the scattering theory for wavelines. To this end, one refers to N-body scattering and scattering via step potentials, and one shows that exactly like in this theory, it is necessary to use a modified definition of time delay in order to prove its existence and its identity with the Eisenbud-Wigner time delay. Sufficient conditions for the existence of the time delay and some results are stated (limiting absorption, spectral properties, existence of the wave operators) for time delay in waveguides with respect to the short-range case. The proof refers to the stationary and commutator methods.
