The authors describe, using a detailed analysis of the Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequence, the tuples of cohomoly classes corresponding to the Chern classes of a complex vector bundle of stable rank. Their classification becomes more effective on generalized flag manifolds, where the Lie algebra formalism and concrete integrability conditions describe in constructive terms the Chern classes of a complex vector bundle. This is a very nice paper. The authors announced its content in [\textit{C. Banica} and \textit{M. Putinar}, C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I 314, No.11, 829--832 (1992; Zbl 0772.32006)]. The tragic death of the first named author delayed the publication of these results.
