The purpose of the paper under review is to establish the relation between the renormalized trace (called 0-trace) and the wave operator, the resonances and some conformal invariants of the boundary on a convex co-compact quotient of the hyperbolic space \({\mathbb H}^{n+1}\), generalizing a formula of Guillopé and Zworski in dimension 2. As a corollary of the trace formula, the authors study the asymptotic behavior of the primitive geodesics counting function. Precise asymptotics of the number of closed geodesics with an effective, exponentially small error term are proved when the dimension of the limit set of \(\Gamma\) is greater than \(n/2\).
