The paper deals with Charge Density Wave (CDW) models and more especially with the periodic Fukuyama-Lee-Rice (FLR) model and its toy version as derived by the authors in previous publications, and which involve quadratic Hamiltonian. Two variational problems for the FLR model and one for the toy model are defined, which are of direct practical significance for CDW. Then one derives algorithms to find their solutions. The core of the paper is the so-called avalanche algorithm which is useful for both simulation and for proving rigorous results.
