Let \(S\) and \(T\) be noetherian local rings with common residue field \(k\), \(R = S \times_k T\) the fiber product of them and \(M\) a finitely generated \(S\)-module. Then \(M\) is also an \(R\)-module. In the present paper, the author explicitly constructs a minimal free resolution of \(M\) as an \(R\)-module from the minimal free resolution of \(M\) as an \(S\)-module and ones of \(k\) as an \(S\)-module and a \(T\)-module. He also shows that the second syzygy of a finitely generated \(R\)-module \(L\) is a direct sum of an \(S\)-module and a \(T\)-module. As a consequence of them, he studies the module structure of \(\mathcal L = \bigoplus_i \text{Ext}_R^i(M, k)\) over \(\mathcal R = \bigoplus_i \text{Ext}_R^i(k, k)\). For example, he showed that \(\text{depth}_{\mathcal R} \mathcal L \leq 1\).
