In this paper, the author constructs a compactification of the moduli space of slope stable locally free sheaves on a smooth projective surface. The author takes the space of all semi-stable sheaves \({\mathcal V}\) (the author does not specify explicitly in the paper, but slope semi-stable will do), he then constructs a map from \({\mathcal V}\) to a projective space by associating to each sheaf \(E\) to its jumping lines in a fixed linear series. He then shows that the image is a projective scheme, and that the fibers of this map are the equivalence classes of an equivalence relation defined in the paper. A similar map was studied by \textit{J. Li} [J. Differ. Geom. 37, No. 2, 417-466 (1993; Zbl 0809.14006)], and it was proved there that the space constructed in the paper under review is the Uhlenbeck compactification of the moduli of ASD connections, at least when \(c_2\) is large.
