The authors consider the space of \(n\)-th order differential operators on an elliptic curve which are polynomials in \(\overline \partial\) with smooth coefficients and highest coefficient 1. On this space a Poisson structure is established by introducing what the author calls an ``affine Gelfand-Dickey bracket''. The main topic of the paper is to classify symplectic leaves of this structure. This leads to the problem of classification of coadjoint orbits for double loop algebras, conjugacy classes in loop groups, and holomorphic vector bundles over the elliptic curve.
