The authors construct new record kissing numbers in dimensions from 32 to 128, which in some cases, e.g. for 128, are extremely better than the known bounds. The authors use binary codes in order to beat previous kissing number results. These methods are local arrangements of spheres around the origin. So they cannot be used to produce dense infinite packings, and it remains open if they can be modified for this purpose.
