The authors have studied the relativistic motion from the classical and quantum point of view of a charged particle in the neighbourhood of a global monopole. The induced electrostatic self-interaction is considered as the zeroth component of an external four-vector potential. The classical orbits and quantum states for spin-1/2 and spin-0 particles are also obtained.
