Let \(X\) be a smooth projective toric variety over an algebraically closed field. A toric vector bundle on \(X\) is a vector bundle admitting an action of the torus of \(X\) which is linear on fibers and compatible with the action on the base. For a projectivization of a toric bundle it is known that the cone of effective curves is polyhedral and it is natural to ask if its Cox ring is finitely generated. In Theorem 1.1 the paper under review provides examples of nonsplit toric vector bundles such that the Cox rings of the corresponding projective bundles are not finitely generated (under some sharp numerical assumptions involving \(\dim X\), rank of the bundle and number of rays of the fan). A necessary condition for a projective variety to be a Mori dream spaces is the polyhedrality of its pseudoeffective cone. In this paper, see Theorem 1.4, examples of nonsplit toric vector bundles such that the pseudoeffective cone of the associated projective bundle is not polyhedral are also provided. As an application, projective toric varieties for which the Cox ring of the projectivized cotangent bundle is not finitely generated are given.
