Let \(R\) be an arbitrary commutative ring. Given a composition \(\lambda\) of \(r\in\mathbb N\), let \(S_\lambda\) be the dual Specht module for the symmetric group \(\Sigma_r\). In a previous paper it is shown how to construct a finite chain complex of modules for \(R\Sigma_r\) where the final module in the complex is \(S_\lambda\) and the other modules are permutation modules with point stabilisers given by Young subgroups of \(\Sigma_r\). The construction of the chain complex is combinatorial and characteristic-free and it is conjectured to be exact when \(\lambda\) is a partition. In that paper partial exactness results were also established. In this paper it is straightforward for the authors to lift the construction of the chain complex for \(R\Sigma_r\) to a chain complex for modules for the Iwahori-Hecke algebra over any integral domain \(R\) with parameters \(r\) and \(q\), in such a way that the specialisation \(q=1\) gives the original chain complex. Using a technical combinatorial result they are able to lift the partial exactness results to the new construction; namely, their chain complex is exact in degrees \(-1\) and \(0\) for arbitrary partitions \(\lambda\), and it is exact everywhere for all 3-part partitions of the form \((\lambda_1,\lambda_2,\lambda_3)\) where \(\lambda_3\leqslant 1\).
