    Let \({\mathcal M}_{n}\) be the algebra of all \(n\times n\) complex matrices. A complex matrix \( Z\in {\mathcal M}_{2n} \) can be partitioned as a \( 2 \times 2 \) block matrix \[ Z= \begin{pmatrix} Z_{11} &Z_{12} \cr Z_{21} & Z_{22} \end{pmatrix}, \] where \( Z_{ij}\in {\mathcal M}_{n}\,\,(i,j=1,2). \) For \( Z\in {\mathcal M}_{n} \), let \( Z =\mathcal Re(Z)+ i\mathcal Im(Z) \) be the Cartesian decomposition of \(Z\). Another important class of matrices, which is related to the class of accretive-dissipative matrices, is that of sector matrices. To introduce this class, let \( \alpha \in [0,\frac{\pi}{2} ) \) and \( S_{\alpha}\) be a sector defined in the complex plane by \[ S_{\alpha} =\left\lbrace z \in C \ :\mathcal Re(z) \geq 0, \ \vert\mathcal Im(z)\vert \leq \tan(\alpha)\mathcal Re(z) \right\rbrace. \] For \( Z\in \mathcal M_{n}\), the numerical range of \(Z\) is defined by \[ W(A)=\lbrace z^{*}Zz : z\in C ,\, \Vert z\Vert =1\rbrace. \] A matrix whose numerical range is contained in a sector region \( S_{\alpha} \) for some \( \alpha \in [0,\frac{\pi}{2} ) \) is called a sector matrix. For positive semidefinite matrices \(Z_1\) and \(Z_2\) of the same size, we have \[ \det (Z_1+Z_2)\geq \det (Z_1)+\det (Z_2). \] A generalization of this inequality is the Brunn-Minkowski determinantal inequality: \[ \left(\det (Z_1+Z_2)\right)^{1/n}\geq \det (Z_1)^{1/n}+\det (Z_2)^{1/n}. \] \textit{K. Fan} [Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 51, 414--421 (1955; Zbl 0067.25503)] showed an extension of this inequality with respect to the leading principal submatrix. In this paper, the authors, using the definition of the sector matrix, extend the Brunn-Minkowski determinantal inequality to multiple positive definite matrices.
