Cocycles over higher-rank abelian actions on quotients of semisimple Lie groups (Q2268271): Difference between revisions

The author is concerned with smooth \(\mathbb{R}\)-valued cocycles over actions by higher-rank subgroups on quotients of semistable Lie groups. Let \(G\) be a noncompact simple Lie group with finite center and Lie algebra \(\mathfrak{g}\) and \(\Gamma\subset G\) be a lattice. Three theorems are proved in the paper for the following cases: (i) actions on a compact \(G/\Gamma\) arising from two commuting flows - one nilpotent and the other semistable, (ii) smooth cocycles over unipotent actions, (iii) smooth \(\mathbb{R}\)-valued cocycles over the \(V\)-action on \(G/\Gamma.\) They establish, under additional conditions, that all cocycles are smoothly cohomologous to constant cocycles.
