The \(X=M\) conjecture of Hatayama et al. [see \textit{G. Hatayama, A. Kuniba, M. Okado, T. Takagi} and \textit{Z. Tsuboi}, Paths, crystals and fermionic formulae. MathPhys odyssey 2001. Integrable models and beyond. In honor of Barry M. McCoy, dedicated to his 60th birthday. Boston: Birkhäuser. Prog. Math. Phys. 23, 205--272 (2002; Zbl 1016.17011)] and [\textit{G. Hatayama, A. Kuniba, M. Okado, T. Takagi} and \textit{Y. Yamada}, Remarks on fermionic formula. Recent developments in quantum affine algebras and related topics. Proceedings of the international conference on representations of affine and quantum affine algebras and their applications, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA, May 21--24, 1998. (Providence), RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS). Contemp. Math. 248, 243--291 (1999; Zbl 1032.81015)]) conjectures the equality between the one-dimensional configuration sum \(X\) and the fermionic formula \(M\) for all Kac-Moody algebras. In the paper under review the authors prove the \(X=M\) conjecture for tensor products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals of the form \(B^{1,s}\) associated to symmetric powers for nonexceptional affine algebras. This extends some previous results of the authors.
