For a simple hypersurface singularity (of type ADE) the Dynkin graph can be constructed from a (real) morsification (in two variables) with only two critical values, and the Coxeter element is the product of the two monodromies around 0 and 1. The author defines entire functions of type \(A_{\frac12 \infty}\) and \(D_{\frac12 \infty}\) with infinitely many critical points, which have similar properties. The functions are \(1-\cos^2\sqrt x-y^2\) and \(1-\cos^2\sqrt x-xy^2\). Their vanishing lattices can be found by explicit calculations. The author determines the spectrum of the Coxeter element, acting on the completion of the complexification of the lattice (this is a separable Hilbert space). It turns out to be strongly continuous on the interval \((-\frac12,\frac12)\) except at \(0\) for type \(D_{\frac12 \infty}\).
