The authors show that for a class of complete manifolds the dimension of the space of harmonic functions with prescribed polynomial growth at infinity is given by the counting functions of eigenvalues of the Laplacian on the boundary at infinity. The answer is in fact exactly the same as for Euclidean space where the dimension of the space of harmonic polynomials of bounded degree is expressed by the counting function of the eigenvalues of the sphere.
