Let \(T\) be a bounded linear operator in a complex Banach space \(X\). If \(\ker(T)=\{0\}\) and the resolvent \(R(\lambda)=(T-\lambda I)^{-1}\) satisfies \(\| R(\lambda)\|\leq c/|\lambda |\) \((\lambda<0)\), then the fractional power \(T^ \alpha\) can be defined for all \(\alpha\in C\) with \(\hbox{Re }\alpha>0\). The family \(T^ \alpha (\alpha >0)\) is a \(C_ 0\)-semigroup of bounded linear operators analytic for \(\hbox{Re }\alpha>0\), and the problem is to define the family \(T^{i\eta}\) \((\eta\in R)\) with holding continuity. In this paper an abstract condition on the operator \(T\) which provides the continuity of operators \(T^{i\eta}\) \((\eta\in R)\) is formulated.
