Projective equivalence of matroids with coefficients (Q1176375): Difference between revisions

The author has introduced the concept of projective equivalence of matroids with coefficients in terms of their presentations. The relationship between matroids with coefficients and matroids in the classical sense has been recalled and some results about the Tutte group of a matroid have been summarized. The fundamental one-to-one correspondence between matroids with coefficients of finite rank and equivalence classes of Grassmann-Plücker maps has also been recalled. Relations between Grassmann-Plücker maps of projectively equivalent matroids have been examined and it has been shown that the generalized cross ratios for appropriate quadruples of subspaces of a given matroid with coefficients depend only on the projective equivalence class of this matroid. Finally, a necessary and sufficient condition for the projective equivalence of Grassmann-Plücker maps in terms of the inner Tutte group of the underlying combinatorial geometry has been established. This result can be viewed as a considerable generalization and unification of various results about representable or orientable matroids.
