A universal group theoretical formula for the exchange algebra in the Bloch wave basis (the basis of quasi-periodic solutions) is derived. The main tool is a lattice version of the Coulomb gas picture in conformal field theory. The systematic use of group theoretical and algebraic structures throughout this paper lead to universal formulas and transparent arguments.
