Regular 2-forms on the moduli space of rank-2 stable bundles on an algebraic surface (Q1188203): Difference between revisions

The author shows that ``every irreducible component of the moduli space of rank-2 stable bundles with large second Chern class on an algebraic surface'' \(X\) ``with a nontrivial regular 2-form'' has a nonzero regular 2-form and is thus an irrational variety. Suppose that \(X\) above has an ample divisor \(H\) where \(H=K+H_ 0\) with \(K\) the canonical divisor and \(H_ 0\) ample. Let \(M(L,k)\) denote the compactification of the moduli space of rank-2 \(H\)-stable bundles with determinant bundle \(L\) and second Chern class \(k\). The desingularization \(\tilde M(L,k)\) of \(M(L,k)\) is shown to have a nonzero regular 2-form which leads to the first quoted result. This result follows from a ``vanishing theorem of generic bundles from \(M(L,k)\) of smaller twisting'' proven by the author.
