The author studies the existence theorem of the tangential Cauchy-Riemann equation \(\overline\partial_ bu=\alpha\) on a CR manifold \(\Omega\), with smooth boundary \(\partial\Omega\), contained in a weakly pseudoconvex hypersurface \(M\subset\mathbb{C}^ n\), \(n\geq 3\). The solvability of the equation \(\overline\partial_ bu=\alpha\) on \(\Omega\) is proved when \(\alpha\) is a \((p,q)\) form, with \(\overline\partial_ b\alpha=0\), \(0\leq p\leq n\), \(1\leq q\leq n-2\), \(n\geq 4\), \(M\) is a pseudoconvex CR hypersurface of finite type in the sense of \textit{J. P. D'Angelo} [Ann. Math., II. Ser. 115, 615-637 (1982; Zbl 0488.32008)] and \(\partial\Omega\) is the intersection of \(M\) with a flat hypersurface \(M_ 0\). It is also proved that any point of finite type of a smooth pseudoconvex hypersurface in \(\mathbb{C}^ n\), \(n\geq 4\), has a local neighborhood basis \(\{\Omega\}\) such that the previous result holds. The author proves that the solutions are regular in the Sobolev spaces and the range of \(\overline\partial_ b\) is closed in the Frechet norm \(L^ 2_{(p,q)}(\omega,\text{loc)}\). If \(M_ 0\) is assumed only Levi-flat with a Stein neighborhood basis the solvability of the equation \(\overline\partial_ bu=\alpha\) is proved on any relatively compact subset \(\Omega'\) of \(\Omega\).
