In [Bull. Soc. Math. Belg., Sér. B 39, 243-254 (1987; Zbl 0628.53011)] the reviewer conjectured that the only compact finite type surfaces in the Euclidean 3-space \(E^ 3\) are the spheres. In this paper, the authors obtain further support for this conjecture by proving the following Theorem: All compact cyclides of Dupin are of finite type.
