The first fundamental problem formulation due to Muskhelishvili is utilized for an investigation of an elastic deformation around linear cracks. Instead of classical definition of the order of singularity at the crack tip \(\Omega(\zeta)=\Omega_ 0(\zeta)/(\zeta- c)^{\alpha+i\beta}+\cdots\), \(0<\alpha<1\), there is introduced the new assumption: \(\Omega(\zeta)=C_ 1/(\zeta-c)^{\alpha+i\beta}+C_ 2/(\zeta-c)^{\alpha-i\beta}+\cdots\) \((C_ 1,C_ 2\) not both zero). References are incomplete.
