The main result of this paper is a presentation of an ordered set which has the fixed-point property but not the strong fixed-point property. This example contradicts the conjecture of \textit{D. Duffus} and \textit{N. Sauer} [ibid. 4, 221-231 (1987; Zbl 0651.06001)] stating the opposite.
