    The purpose of the authors is to find the general form of a Finsler metric \(F(x^ i, \dot x^ i)\) \((i = \overline{1,4})\) on \(\mathbb{R}^ 4\) \((ds = Fd \tau)\), where dot denotes \(d/d\tau\), \(\tau\) being a parameter for describing a smooth curve \(x^ i(\tau)\), which is invariant to an infinitesimal rotation. If \(r\), \(\theta\), \(\phi\) are the spherical polar coordinates attached to \(x^ 4\), \(x^ 2\), \(x^ 3\), \(X = r \dot \theta = R\sin\alpha \sin\beta \sin\gamma\), \(Y = r sin \theta \dot \Phi = R \sin\alpha \sin \beta \cos \gamma\), \(Z = \dot r = R \sin \alpha \cos \beta\) and \(T = \dot x^ 4 = \dot t = R \cos \alpha\), then: ``The general spherically symmetric Finsler metric is given by \(G(x^ i,\dot x^ i) = R^ 2 Q(r,t,\alpha, \beta)\) where \(Q\) is an arbitrary smooth function of the 4 variables \(r\), \(t\), \(\alpha\) and \(\beta''\) (Theorem 5.1). There is also presented an other equivalent form of this metric. The general axially symmetric Finsler metric is given by \(G(x^ i,\dot x^ i) = R^ 2 S(r, \theta,t,\alpha, \beta, \gamma)\), \(S\) being an arbitrary smooth function of 6 variables (Theorem 7.1)''.
