Let \(X \to Y\) be a \(Y\)-scheme; a proper \(Y\)-scheme \(Z@>p>>Y\) is called a compactification of the \(Y\)-scheme \(X\) if there exist an open dense immersion \(X@>i>>Z\) over \(Y\). -- \textit{M. Nagata} proved earlier (1962) that if \(Y\) is a noetherian scheme and \(X\to Y\) is separated and of finite type, then it admits a \(Y\)-compactification. In this article, this result is proved by alternative methods. In the first part of the paper are given some results closed to blowing-ups and compactification problem on extensions of morphisms. The result of Nagata is a consequence of these preliminary results. The paper also contains many results useful in birational geometry.
