\textit{Ph. Diamond} and \textit{P. Kloeden} [ibid. 35, 241-249 (1990; Zbl 0704.54006) and Correction in ibid. 45, 123 (1992; Zbl 0747.54004)] defined metrics \(d_ p\) \((1\leq p\leq \infty)\) on \(E^ n\), the space of normal, compactly supported fuzzy convex sets on \(\mathbb{R}^ n\), and derived several results including a characterization of compactness in \(E^ n\). In this note, the author provides a counterexample to the necessity of their condition for \(1\leq p<\infty\) and derives a modified characterization of compactness in \(E^ n\).
