Es werden (nach J. Martinet) gerade unimodulare Gitter \(U_ n\) mit Minimalnorm 4 definiert, die eine Quaternionen-Struktur besitzen. Der von Koch und Venkov eingeführte Nachbardefekt wird für diese Gitter studiert; er ist minimal. In Dimension 32 wird das konstruierte Gitter \(U_{32}\) identifiziert mit einem bekannten Gitter, das aus einem Reed- Muller-Code konstruiert wird.
