The authors investigate the \(m\)-fold tensor product \({\mathcal T} = V(\lambda^1) \otimes \cdots \otimes V(\lambda^m)\) of finite dimensional \({\mathcal G} = \text{gl}(r, C)\) modules labelled by partitions \(\lambda^1, \dots, \lambda^m\) of \(m\) not necessarily distinct numbers \(n_1, \dots, n_m\). Their approach is to use the structure of the centralizer algebra \(\text{End}_{\mathcal G} (\mathcal T)\) to compute explicitly the projection maps of \(\mathcal T\) onto its irreducible \(\mathcal G\)- summands and to construct the associated highest weight vectors. The Littlewood-Richardson rule is intimately involved in the construction. For the special case \(n_i = 1\) for \(i = 1,\dots, m\) the results correspond to those of Schur and Weyl. The writing is exceptionally lucid.
