This paper axiomatizes a solution concept for exchange economies. Suppose that a solution concept for such an economy must satisfy Pareto optimality, monotonicity, and must divide a certain commodity \(h\) equally. Then the only such solution is egalitarian equivalence with respect to the commodity \(h\).
