The authors treat the Anosov energy level of convex Hamiltonian and conclude that Anosov energy levels can only arise at high energy levels not containing conjugate points. The authors note that if the Hamiltonian is of the form of a kinetic plus potential energy an Anosova energy level is equivalent to an Anosov geodesic flow of the associated Maupertuis metric corresponding to the fixed energy level.
