The authors give an approximation scheme for the construction of the solution of the time-dependent free massless Dirac equation (Weyl equation) by a rescaled iteration of spherical ``averages'' on the initial state. One of the main parts of the paper consists in showing that this averaging procedure is a contraction. The proof of the theorem uses this fact and is similar to the proof of the Trotter product formula. The authors assert that their result holds also for the Weyl equation with electric or magnetic interaction.
