The author shows that Nikolskij's inequality \(|t_n |_{L^q [2 \pi]} \leq c(p,q) n^{{1 \over p} - {1 \over q}} |t_n |_{L^p [2 \pi]}\) where \(1 \leq q \leq \infty\) and \(t_n\) is a trigonometric polynomial of degree \(n\), can be deduced from Bernstein's inequality \(|t_n' |_{C [2 \pi]} \leq cn |t_n |_{C [2 \pi]}\). Moreover, this is true for arbitrary function systems \(\{f_n\}\) if one replaces the sequence of degrees \(\{n\}\) by an appropriately chosen sequence \(\lambda_n \uparrow \infty\).
