    Die Hilbert Transformation \({\mathcal H}\) für \(u\in L_p(R)\), mit \(p\in(1,\infty)\) ist definiert durch \[ {\mathcal H}u(x)= \lim_{\varepsilon\to 0} \Biggl({1\over\pi}\Biggr) \int_{| y|\geq\varepsilon} {u(x- y)\over y} dy,\quad x\in R \] und ist ein beschränkter linearer Operator über \(L_p(R)\). Sei \(X= \sum_{1\leq p<\infty} L_p(R)\), d.h. jedes Element aus \(X\) ist die endliche Summe von Funktionen aus \(\bigcup_{1\leq p<\infty} L_p(R)\) und ähnlich sei \(X^0= \sum_{1<p<\infty} L_p(R)\), dann gilt, daß mit \(u\in X\) und \({\mathcal H}u\in X\to{\mathcal H}({\mathcal H}u)= -u\), und mit \(u\in X\) und \({\mathcal H}u= f\in X\to u\in X^0\) und \(f\in X^0\). Für das nichtlineare Neumann'sche Randwertproblem \({\mathcal H}(u')= F(u)\) mit absolut stetiger Funktion \(u:\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\) und \(u'\in X\) und einer stetigen Funktion \(F\), die gewissen Bedingungen unterworfen ist, [vgl. \textit{J. F. Toland}, J. Funct. Anal. 145, No. 1, 136-150 (1997; Zbl 0876.35106), wo \(F(u)=\sin u\) und \(F(u)= u^2- u\) näher untersucht werden] gilt, daß die Lösung \(u\in L_\infty(R)\) und \(u'\in X^0\). Ein verallgemeinertes Integral, ähnlich der Definition von Integrabilität \(B\) [\textit{A. Zygmund}, ``Trigonometric Series I, II'', Cambridge Univ. Press (1959; Zbl 0085.05601)] führt zur Definition der Hilbert Transformation von Distributionen. Mit dieser Verallgemeinerung gilt der Satz, daß \({\mathcal H}u= v\) mit \(u\) und \(v\) in \(L_1(R)\) dann und nur dann gilt, wenn \(mu \hat{}= v \hat{}\) (fast überall), wobei \(u \hat{}\) die Fourier Transformation von \(u\) in \(L_1(R)\) und \(m(k)= i\text{ sign}(k)\) bedeuten.
