Let \(\mu\) be a finite positive Borel measure supported on the unit circle. Consider the associated sequence of orthogonal rational functions with respect to \(\mu\) whose poles are fixed according to a Newtonian table of points. The authors develop a nested disk theory to characterize the cases when the measure that generates a given sequence of orthogonal rational functions is unique.
