The reviewer [Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 38, No. 3, 511-522 (1995; Zbl 0841.20042)] gave a definition of a Schunck class of periodic soluble abelian-by-finite groups and proved the existence and conjugacy of the associated projectors. Here the author obtains similar results in the larger class of periodic soluble nilpotent-by-finite groups. Although the definition of Schunck class is similar to that given by the reviewer and the main results necessarily have similar statements, the proofs given here are a significant improvement, making greater use of the Sylow theory in this class of groups.
