Without finding the zeros of polynomials, an algorithm for \(J\)-factorization of polynomial matrices with respect to the imaginary axis is given. The effectiveness of the algorithm is based on the construction of the stabilizing solution of the matrix algebraic Riccati equation. The algorithm may be used for the factorization of a non-regular polynomial matrix whose determinant has zero roots.
