    Applying Chen's method [\textit{J. R. Chen}, Sci. Sin. 16, 157-176 (1973; Zbl 0319.10056)], following the scheme of \textit{N. M. Timofeev} [Mat. Zametki 57, 747-764 (1995; Zbl 0854.11046)], the author proves that if \(f(n)\) is a multiplicative function taking a value \(\zeta\) on the set of primes, where \(\zeta^3=1\), \(\zeta\neq 1\), and \(f^3(p^r)=1\) for \(r\geq 2\), then there exists a constant \(\theta\in (0,1)\) such that for \(x\geq x_0\), \[ \biggl|\sum_{p\leq x}f(p+1) \biggr|\leq \theta\pi(x), \] where \(\pi(x)= \sum_{p\leq x}1\).
