\textit{T. Gerstenkorn} and \textit{J. Manko} defined [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 44, 39-43 (1991; Zbl 0742.04008)] the correlation between two intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFS), introduced by \textit{K. Atanassov} [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 20, 87-96 (1986; Zbl 0631.03040)], who, together with \textit{G. Gargov}, also introduced the concept of interval valued IFSs (IVIFSs) [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 31, 343-349 (1989; Zbl 0674.03017)] as an extension of the IFSs. The research in this direction was carried out by \textit{H. Bustince} and \textit{P. Burillo} [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 74, 237-244 (1995)]. In the present paper the correlation of IVIFSs is introduced and its properties are studied. Decomposition theorem for the correlation are proved.
