The author gives a combinatorial definition of \(I\)-sign type of a poset, generalizing the sign types which are indexed by the root system of Weyl groups of type \(A_l\). The connection is made between the set \(D_p^I\) of \(I\)-sign types associated to the partial orders on \(I\), and other combinatorial objects such as polyhedral cones, digraphs and integer partitions.
