The conformal Einstein equations for polytropic perfect fluids cosmologies which admit an isotropic singularity are considered. It is proved that the Cauchy problem in this case is well posed, that is, that solution exist, are unique an depend smoothly on the initial data of the 3- surface of the singularity. For this prove the system of conformal Einstein equations is reformulated as an singular symmetric hyperbolic system, such that the Newman-Claudel theorem can be used. For the dust case the prove is only shown for additionally Bianchi symmetry. This shows that the Weyl curvature conjecture formulated by Penrose ensures that the considered spacetimes are conformally flat.
