Systems of PDE equations of quasi-linear parabolic type with moving spatial domains, are considered. The problem is formulated as an evolution equation in a Hilbert space and a nonlinear model reduction scheme is applied by combining the Galerkin method with the inertial manifold idea; a system of ODE that shares the dynamic properties with the original problem (up to a desired accuracy), is derived. Then, geometric control methods are used to explicitly build nonlinear time-varying output feedback controllers. If the separation between fast and slow modes of the original system is large enough, the controllers guarantee stability and a desired output tracking. Applications (performed by simulations) to reaction-diffusion systems, show that the method can provide low-order controllers with good performances.
