A linear difference equation generates a sequence of vectors \( y_0,\dots, y_{k+1} = y_k A,\dots.\) The long run behavior of this sequence is described in terms of a group obtained from \( A, A^2,\dots.\) The results are given in a topological semigroup setting so they can also be applied to more general difference equations.
