Lower bounds for the \(cd\)-index of odd-dimensional simplicial manifolds (Q1568793): Difference between revisions

The \(cd\)-index was introduced by Fine [see \textit{M. M. Bayer} and \textit{A. Klapper}, Discrete Comput. Geom. 3, No. 1, 33-47 (1991; Zbl 0761.52009)], to encode the flag \(f\)-vector of an eulerian poset. \textit{R. P. Stanley} [Math. Z. 216, No. 3, 483-499 (1994; Zbl 0805.06003)] showed that the \(cd\)-index is non-negative for many classes of posets. Here, the author extends this to show that many of the coefficients of the \(cd\)-index of odd-dimensional simplicial manifolds are also non-negative.
