In this paper the authors consider the linear production game, a cooperative game corresponding to a linear production process, introduced by Owen. For this game Owen has proposed a method that finds a subset of the core which has been called the Owen set by the authors. In this paper they give an axiomatic characterization of this set. They also study the relationship between the ``shuffle property'', one of the axioms introduced by them, and the core of the corresponding linear production game.
