The author associates to certain types of groups (locally compact groups, real Lie groups, Stein groups, affine algebraic groups) their group algebras in such a way that for each group of the above types, there is a one-to-one correspondence between (continuous, smooth, etc.) representations of the group and representations of the corresponding group algebra. The main ingredient is the notion of stereotype locally convex spaces, which are equipped with two types of tensor products making them (symmetric) monoidal categories. The above mentioned group algebras are Hopf algebras in the latter categories and are called stereotype group algebras. No proof is given.
