To a regular even-sided polygon the authors associate a ``geometric'' continued fraction, giving an expansion of the (inverses of) slopes of linear flows on the associated flat surface. The construction relies on \textit{W. Veech}'s identification of the affine diffeomorphism group for each of these surfaces [Invent. Math. 97, 553--583 (1989; Zbl 0676.32006)], and the connection between linear flow on the surface and the Teichmüller geodesic flow in the appropriate Teichmüller space. By use of natural extensions, invariant measures are given for each of the associated interval maps.
