The author studies the difference equation \[ N_{n+1}-N_{n}=-\mu N_n+pe^{-r{N_{n-k}}} \] which is the discrete analogue of the Lasota-Wazewska-Czyzewska equation which models the growth of red blood cells. He gives a sufficient condition for all positive solutions to be attracted to the unique equilibrium solution which sharpens the condition given by \textit{M. Chen} and \textit{J. S. Yu} [Soochow J. Math. 25, No. 1, 1-9 (1999; Zbl 0930.39012)].
